SMF TypeCaster is a Drag-and-Drop utility in addition to a double click-able application. To convert your generic Standard MIDI Files (SMFs) to a form that your Mac sequencer application can read, System 7 users can drag all of the files onto the application ICON. This version doesn't allow dragging of folders or disks though. Don't worry if you drag a non-SMF onto the application ICON. SMF TypeCaster checks to see if it is a legitimate SMF before it changes the file type to 'Midi'. To change the default Creator application, you must open SMF TypeCaster application by double-clicking on it. Click on the line that says "Sequencer Player is ...". This will bring up a dialog box for you to select an application. It should be an application capable of reading SMFs.
I am releasing this version early since there are many people that can use this type of application. Later versions of this program will allow remapping of drum and program changes for converting General MIDI sequences to play on older synthesizers. The program will read text files that have program and drum maps for your particular synthesizer or set of synths (a map for each channel).
Let me know what other SMF utilities you can use. I may incorporate it into later versions of this program.
